Red Horse Bloodstock is a Thoroughbred racehorse syndication, training and racing as well as investment business, that has the care of the Thoroughbred itself at the heart of all of its decisions. Our horses matter.
Equine welfare is paramount in everything we do at Red Horse Bloodstock! We do not train our racehorses on the injury prone ‘dirt’ surfaces. We do not pump our horses full of drugs and medication in order to race. We impose our own strict Whip Rules. We do not fill our horses stomach’s full of ulcer causing starch and carbohydrates. We do not leave our horses on their small stables for 23+ hours a day. We do not limit grazing or social interaction. We do not forget about our horses once they move on to new homes.
DRUG FREE RACING & TRAINING
All horses train and race ‘drug free’. Red Horse Bloodstock is a keen supporter of the ‘Water, Hay and Oats Alliance’ (WHOA).
Training and racing drug free is ethically the only way to look after, care for and train the magnificent creatures that are Thoroughbred racehorses. Here at Red Horse Bloodstock we choose to adopt the medication rules adopted by the clean major racing nations of the world. Nothing is more important in our sport than the safety of the participants and that includes Horses and Jockeys.
All horses will be fed a specially formulated high fibre diet, low in starch but full of the correct levels of energy. The diet will keep the amount of starch and sugars found in other racing feeds which are bad for the digestive system of horses to a minimum, thus reducing the risk of ulcers. As much water and forage as the horse wants to eat. Nothing is restricted to ensure enhanced gut performance and our horses graze as much as possible.
We try to tailor feed programs to provide our horses with everything they need, but maintaining a healthy gut requires more than the right nutrients. One of the easiest ways to fix ulcers with feed is simply to feed more often. All of our horses are fed multiple times a day.
At Red Horse Bloodstock we look to balance nature and science in the way we train our racehorses. On the one hand we try to let our horses live as natural a horse life as possible, whilst at the same time, utilising as much scientific research as possible that will allow our racehorses to perform to their maximum.
Exercise physiology research, GPS/heart rate technology, aerodynamics, biomechanics, genetic research and testing as well as blood testing are all utilized in all training at Red Horse Bloodstock.
POST RACING CAREERS
At Red Horse Bloodstock, we aim to look after our Racehorses with their post racing careers in our minds at all times. From the day the horse arrives with us, we aim to teach it manners, appropriate behaviour, the right way of moving/going and using itself and will also keep it in an environment that enriches its life and makes it a nicer person. All things that will be useful for a post racing life.
Red Horse Bloodstock aims to re-homing all our racehorses once their racing careers are over to ensure they are looked after as well as they were when they were here at Red Horse Bloodstock. We track them for life.
